SciFi and Fantasy Art: Sea needles feeding their brood

This is a pic which came to my mind last year in September when I was in Norway. I had a card deck of butterflies and one of mushrooms and a book about all sorts of sea creatures. Everyday I studied them and got a lot of ideas. Especially this one I liked very much and it was in my head a whole year now. I finally finished it!
The animals are flying sea needles with peacocklike tails and they are feeding their brood. The sea needles lay eggs into just this one kind of mushroom where the brood lives until their wings are ready. It is similar with the sea unicorn in the left bottom from which I have a more detailed pic right next to this one.
Done with colored pencils and gel pens.

Welch sonderbare wesen. Perfekt gezeichnet!!! Als wären sie lebendig...So lang und dünn, anfassen würde ich sie nicht wollen. Zauberhafte flügel - erinnern mich an braunis seidenmalerei. Auch der pilz ist total lebendig, plastisch, toll gezeichnet.

:-) Nathalie Reinholz replies: "Richtige Schmetterlinge fasst man ja auch nicht an! Danke, danke, danke!"

*faints* This....oh my gosh...its simply amazing. How do you number 1) get such good ideas and number 2) carry it out in such a patient manner. I think I'd probably jump over a cliff before doing this much detail. Its amazing I give to you a huge big A++++ and my respect. Its amazing.

:-) Nathalie Reinholz replies: "Thanks! To read your comment again makes my heart jump. 1) I just roam througha lot of nature books and connect things. 2.) I glue myself to the chair so I have to concentrate and draw.So don`t jump but draw!"

I don´t know, where you get your inspirations from. it is extraordinary!!! the colors are amazing as ever and the spider in its web is really great (although I do not really like my leg haired friends...) the water ist great...I don´t know, what to say anymore. GREAT!

:-) Nathalie Reinholz replies: "Thanks Nick! always happy to see you here!"

I love all the detail you put into it. Some people (like me) are too lazy to put in backgrounds but it really adds a lot. I love the sea unicorn. I actually drew one once but it wasn't very good so I didn't put it in my gallery. Anyway this picture is awesome.

:-) Nathalie Reinholz replies: "Thankyou!!! I was too lazy as well but now I want to do backgrounds as well and often give it a try."

The water! It looks so real! How did you do it? I can't draw water... But maybe I can draw mushrooms *goes and tries*

:-) Nathalie Reinholz replies: "I had a look at real water and water photos to get it like this."

Der Pilz und die blauen Flugaale kommen sehr schön plastisch heraus. Einen Bruch in dem Bild macht der Sonnenhintergrund. Finde die Buntstiftstruktur zu grob.

60 Nathalie Reinholz replies: "Flugseenadeln! Der Hintergrund ist grob ausgedrückt scheiße! Aber ich könnte auch misslungen sagen!"
